Flights of Fancy

I'll leave it to the birds to say,
And send a lark off on it's way,
With a wish that is all mine,
It sings a song for Valentine.

There is no need for your reply,
But if you look up to the sky,
Perhaps you'll spy my lark ascending,
As it tells a tale with no ending.

Will you wish upon a swallow,
Sow a seed of what's to follow,
Send it back o'er land and sea,
With a secret song for me.

I am waiting on the shore,
Where seagulls cry as they soar,
Will I spot the wheeling tern,
Who brings news of your return.

As I watch the airborne dance,
I wonder should I take a chance,
To dream of soaring high above,
Where we might sing our songs of love.
